Interview preparation
First, it was very difficult for me to find a person whom I interview with. I do not have friends who are exchange students. But litter I discuss one of my classmate in math class about this project. He was from Ethiopia. I asked him if he could be one of my interviewee. And he was a very happy that I asked him. I set up with him an appointment time and date (10-20-13 at 10:30 pm). The interview was take place in the Miller center. Before I went to meet with him I did a research about his country especially the city he was from. I was also explaining to him about the project and asked him if it’s ok for me to record what he is saying.

Interview report
The interview went fantastic for me. It was good experience to me. The guy I interview was able to answer most of the questions that I asked him. I really enjoyed talking with him. He was a brave man when it comes for interview. We did not stay or talk about one side. Infect, we took both side of the countries, so that might increase his knowledge of my country. What surprises me was the diversity of his country. There are more than 80 languages in his country.
Country report (Addus Ababa)
Addis Ababa city’s which was founded in 1887 (1879 Ethiopian Calendar). The city is located in East Africa at the bottoms of the Entoto Mountains of Ethiopia. Currently Addis Ababa is the capital city of Ethiopia a big city consisting of 3 to 5 million people living in this city. The city is also sometimes referred to as the political capital of Africa due to its historical, diplomatic and political significance for the continent. Addis Ababa is a very diverse city containing almost all of the Ethiopia’s ethnicities which is more than 80. Because of this, you will hear a lot of different languages spoken in Addis Ababa. The official working language is Amharic. Amharic is the most commonly spoken language in the Addis Ababa city, smaller group of the people spoken different language in this city.

1. Me, Home sick or how is life like the city that you come from and the city you are in now?
Mr. I Miss my friends, because I have been for 20 years with them it’s a little bet challenged for me to forgot my friends’
2. Me. How long are you going to study in this country? And what is your major?
Mr. D I’m going to study here in United states e of America for 5 years. My major is environmental science.
3. Me, who is the leadership in your city now?
Mr. D: Hailemariam Desalegn Boshe an Ethiopian politician who has been Prime Minister of Ethiopia since 2012. He took over when the former prime minister of the country die.
4. Me, what kind of jobs would you like to have and why?
Mr. D: I like any kind of job at this time I’m flexible to do anything.
5. Me, how did you choose to come to the US? What was the process you did to come here?
Mr. D: the main reason for me to come to in the USA is my parent but one of my friend he used to learn s Saint Cloud state university.
6. Me, What did you miss the most from your country?
Mr. D: I miss my friends and Ethiopian food those are the most I miss.
7. Me, How do you communicate with each other in your home country?
Mr D; in our country we have about 80 languages. Mostly we communicate Amharic in school. every community or clan has its own language.
8. Me,What is the clothing style for men and women
Mr. D :Western-style clothing is commonly worn in cities. In rural areas traditional clothing is more common and traditional dress is usually made from an Ethiopian
cotton cloth. Men and women’s clothing usually covers most of the body.
Traditional shawls are worn by men and women, even with Western clothing.
Some women also wear a traditional headscarf called a ‘shash’ which is a
cloth that is tied at the neck. This is common among both Muslim and Christian

9. Me, How are women and men treated differently?
Mr. D; In Ethiopia, men and women have clearly defined roles. Traditionally men are responsible for providing for the family and for dealing with family contact outside the home whereas women are responsible for domestic work and looking after the children.

Yes, I really enjoyed speaking with them. I have a lot of friends who are exchange students.

Mr. D; I have being here in US about 2 years.

I have been to Washington D. C.
14. Me,What are your home country’s major religions?
Mr. D; we have many religions in our country. But the current major religions are Islam and Christianity.

Challenges and benefits of interviewing an international student
interviewing an international student mean the interviewer has to consider who would be the interviewee and then might face a hard time to find the ways approaching a person due to differences in lifestyles. However, those challenges are a great way to achieve knowledge about different cultures. language barrier is the most challenge in interviewing with an international student. Understanding the interviewee is very important. Also, knowing that the interviewee understand the questions that he was asked is the key to make them answer and talk.Some information may be difficult to understand and boring but we must have to handle any kind of situation.
When we talks about the benefits of interviewing an international students All over the world the coming in the united states, you have a little opportunity to go there known everything, but to interview an international student is a good chance to get detail information about other countries. During the interviewing, people can learn and know a lot of cultures about the country; also people can compare the difference and similarity cultures between their own countries. On other hand, people usually will use the English for interviewing, so that is helpful to our English skills. Interviewing bring us benefits of discovering other cultures as well as life styles and on the other hand reflect our own culture by looking at peoples ways of thinking
In conclusion, interviewing an international student make people face some challenges finding and approaching interviewees at first but obviously, the interviewing process would bring many benefits since interviewers will be able to achieve knowledge about another cultures as well as their own culture.
